The yard deserves better than a carbon book

A recycling yard is a fast, physical, cash-heavy business: loads over the weighbridge, prices per kilo by grade, suppliers paid at the gate, containers to fill for buyers overseas. Most of it is recorded in carbon books and counted from a drawer at night.

Kolab Recycling is in design, and the shape is clear: weighbridge tickets with photos, supplier accounts, sorting yields, stock by grade, buyer sales with export documents, and a cash ledger that reconciles daily. Collection rounds reuse a route app we have already built.

The prize is bigger than tidiness. Hotels and manufacturers now need to prove waste diversion, and a recycler who can hand a client a signed certificate, your business recycled 4,120 kg this quarter, wins contracts that price alone cannot. We are looking for founding customers to build this with.

In design, not from zero

Resiklaz is the newest product on this site, and honest about it: it is in design, not in code. But it will be assembled the Kolab way, from parts that already work.

  • Collection rounds reuse the route app brick: stops, proof and reattempts, built
  • Cash ledger patterns from the market POS and petty cash bricks
  • Supplier accounts based on the member register brick
  • Renewal alerts and audit trails shared with the whole platform

The rounds

Collections scheduled, proven, rebooked

Client collections run on schedules with proof at every stop. A gate that stayed closed becomes a rebooked stop, not a lost client, and every collection feeds that client's diversion numbers.

  • Scheduled rounds per client, with proof of collection
  • Missed stops rebook with a reason attached
  • Collected weights flow into client certificates

The weighbridge

Gross, tare, net, photo, paid

Every load in becomes a ticket: weights, grade, a photo of the load, the supplier account and the payout. The ticket is the atom of the whole system; everything downstream reconciles back to it.

  • Manual weighbridge entry first, hardware integration later
  • A photo of every load, attached to its ticket
  • Price per kilo by grade, set by you, dated

The suppliers

Who brought what, and what they were paid

Supplier accounts hold every ticket, grade and payout. Cash paid at the gate reconciles against the drawer daily, and the trade's record-keeping obligations stop living in a shoebox.

  • Account history per supplier, ticket by ticket
  • Daily cash reconciliation against payouts
  • ID records handled under DPA 2017 rules

The certificate

Proof your clients can forward

Every collection and every sorted tonne builds towards one page per client per quarter: what was collected, what was diverted, signed and dated. Hotels and factories forward it into ESG reports, and renew the contract.

  • Per-client tonnage by material and period
  • Certificates generated, signed and archived
  • Yard totals: input tonnage against graded output

Local by design

Recycling is becoming a proof business

ESG pressure is arriving on the island through hotel groups and manufacturers. The recyclers who can prove diversion will take the contracts.

ESG pressure is real

Hotels and manufacturers now have to prove waste diversion to their groups and their guests. They choose recyclers who can hand them the numbers.

Certificates win contracts

Your business recycled 4,120 kg this quarter, signed and dated. That one page renews collection contracts better than any discount.

Licences and permits

Dealer licences, environmental permits and transport authorisations carry renewal dates with alerts, so a lapsed paper never stops a round.

A cash trade, kept clean

Suppliers are paid cash at the gate. Every payout ties to a ticket, a weight and a grade, and the drawer reconciles daily.

Export paperwork

Baled PET and scrap leave the island in containers. Buyer sales link to weights, grades and the documents each shipment needs.

Three languages

Yard staff work in Kreol Morisien, certificates print in English or French, and nobody signs a ticket they cannot read.

Boost in Kolab Recycling

A good yard runs on habits: complete tickets, careful sorting, safe days. Kolab Boost makes them count.

Complete tickets

Tickets with weights, grade and photo all present extend a streak. Clean records are what certificates are built from.

Sorting quality

Crews whose graded output holds its price with buyers earn recognition for the sorting floor, not just the scale.

Safe yard days

Days without incident count for the whole yard, and milestones are celebrated together.

Questions

Asked all the time

What does in design actually mean?
It means we are specifying Resiklaz with real recyclers now, before writing the vertical code. The building blocks it reuses, the route app, cash ledger patterns and supplier registers, are already built elsewhere in the Kolab family.
What does a founding customer get?
A seat at the design table, the build sequenced around your yard's reality, on-site visits during development, and your launch price locked for two years. In exchange we get honesty about what actually happens at the gate.
Do we need a connected weighbridge?
No. Version one takes weights typed from your existing indicator, with a photo of the display and the load. Direct weighbridge integration comes later, once the paper problem is solved.
What about supplier ID records and DPA 2017?
The scrap trade keeps supplier identity records, and Resiklaz will handle them properly: NIC numbers masked by default, role-based access, retention rules and export tooling under the Data Protection Act 2017.
What exactly is in the client certificate?
Collected tonnage by material for the period, the collection dates behind it, and a signed statement your client can forward to a group ESG report. Every number traces back to tickets and rounds.
Does the cash ledger replace our accounting?
No. It keeps the yard's daily cash honest and then feeds summaries to NexBooks or your accountant. Books stay books; the yard stays fast.
