The fleet lives in too many places

Ask a Mauritian operator where the fleet stands and you get an exercise book in the cab, a servicing spreadsheet at the office, insurance papers in a drawer and the fitness dates in the owner's head. It works until the day it does not: a lapsed certificate, a missed service, a thirsty vehicle nobody noticed.

Kolab Transport puts every vehicle and vessel in one register with its trips, fuel, servicing history and renewal dates. Drivers do a photographed walk-around before the first trip; the office sees what needs attention today, not after the breakdown.

For operators on the water, charter manifests carry passenger lists, signed waivers and a weather log that stands up when a trip is stood down. Earnings per vehicle close the loop: you finally see which assets pay for themselves.

In build, on proven bricks

Kolab Transport is assembled from bricks already built and used, not started from a blank page. The road and the water are both covered.

  • Fleet logbook brick: trips, fuel and servicing-due alerts, built and working
  • Charter manifest brick: passengers, waivers and weather log, designed for zero-signal boats
  • Driver check flows follow the kiosk patterns proven in Kolab HR
  • Renewal alerts extend the servicing-due engine already in the logbook brick

Fitness, insurance, vignette: never lapsed

Every vehicle carries its own paper calendar: fitness, insurance, declaration, vignette, and for boats the survey. Kolab Transport watches all of it and starts nudging 60 days out, so the NTA queue is a plan, not a panic.

  • Alerts on WhatsApp and email, from 60 days out
  • One screen shows the whole fleet's paper status
  • Servicing due by date or kilometres, whichever comes first

Daily checks

A walk-around before the first trip

Tyres, lights, leaks, seatbelts: a two-minute photographed check on a shared phone, before the vehicle moves. Faults become reports the workshop actually sees, and the record protects everyone when questions come later.

  • Big buttons, Kreol Morisien, photos where it matters
  • Faults route to servicing with the photo attached
  • Missed checks visible to the office by 07:00

Manifests, waivers and the weather call

Charter operators work where signal does not. Manifests and waivers are captured on the jetty offline, the weather log records why you sailed or stood down, and a stood-down trip carries its passenger list to the new date.

  • Passenger lists and signed waivers, offline on the boat
  • A weather log that backs up the skipper's call
  • Standing down messages every passenger in one action

Local by design

Built for Mauritian roads and lagoons

Fitness queues, cyclone warnings, fuel price changes and the school run: the things that actually shape an operator's week are the things Larout is built around.

NTA deadlines

Fitness, declaration and vignette dates live on each vehicle, with alerts early enough to book the NTA slot calmly, not to panic about it.

Cyclone and swell protocol

A Class III warning or a heavy-swell notice stands trips and charters down in one action: passengers messaged, manifests carried over, the day logged properly.

Fuel price watch

When pump prices change, per-kilometre costs and vehicle earnings recalculate from the date of the change, so trends stay honest.

School transport

Child on, child off, seat by seat. Parents can get the WhatsApp they actually want: your child is on the bus.

Three languages

Drivers check in Kreol Morisien, the office reads English, and charter guests sign waivers in English or French.

WhatsApp built in

Renewal alerts, check reminders and charter updates go where Mauritius already looks: WhatsApp, with SMS fallback.

Boost in Kolab Transport

Kolab Boost recognises the habits that keep a fleet safe and cheap to run. Recognition, never surveillance.

Check streaks

A completed walk-around before the first trip builds a streak drivers can see grow. A missed check breaks it quietly; nobody is shamed.

Fuel discipline leagues

Consumption trends become friendly leagues between comparable vehicles, with monthly resets so nobody is stuck at the bottom.

Incident-free days

Depots count safe days together and celebrate the milestones as a team, because safety is a team sport.

More about Kolab Boost

In the wild

What it looks like in real businesses

A school transport operator, 9 vans

Seat-by-seat registers account for every child, parents get the on-the-bus WhatsApp, and fitness dates stop living in the owner's head.

A catamaran charter, 3 boats in Grand Baie

Manifests and waivers are done on the jetty with no signal, the weather log covers the skipper on stand-down days, and Sunday's trip carries Saturday's list over.

A tour operator with a mixed fleet of 14

Fuel per vehicle exposes the thirsty coach, servicing alerts end the roadside surprises, and earnings per vehicle decide what gets replaced first.

Questions

Asked all the time

What is built already?
The fleet logbook brick (trips, fuel, servicing-due alerts) and the charter manifest brick (passengers, waivers, weather log) are built and working. Kolab Transport assembles them into one product with renewals, driver checks and earnings on top.
Does it work at sea with no signal?
Yes. The charter manifest brick was designed for zero-signal boats: manifests, waivers and the weather log are captured offline and sync back at the jetty.
Why per vehicle and not per staff?
Because that is how the business counts. Drivers change, vehicles stay. Unlimited drivers and office users are included; you pay for what earns.
Do drivers need smartphones?
One shared phone per vehicle is enough for checks and trip logs. Anything a driver cannot do on the road, the office can do from a PC.
How do renewal alerts know our dates?
You enter each vehicle's fitness, insurance, declaration and vignette dates once. Alerts then run on WhatsApp and email from 60 days out until the renewal is recorded.
What about passenger data and DPA 2017?
Manifests and school registers hold personal data, so retention rules, role-based access and export tooling follow the Data Protection Act 2017 from day one.
